This coming Tuesday, August 7th, is the 35th Anniversary of National Night Out, an annual community-building event that has been taking place in participating cities since 1984. Hosted by our local law enforcement agencies, this event is a great opportunity for you to enhance your relationships with your local law enforcement, your community, and your neighbors. This is a terrific event for kids and families to interact with police officers, firemen, paramedics, and S.W.A.T. teams, depending on the agencies participating in your location.
The Irvine Police Department will be hosting National Night Out across three locations throughout the City of Irvine, each with different activities, vehicles, and activity booths hosted by local organizations. My family and I will be participating at the Irvine Rotary Club’s booth at the University Park location, so if you are in the area, we encourage you to come out! I know how difficult it is for my family and I to get to know our neighbors and keep up with what is going on within our community, but nights like these are a great way to connect and get up to speed on what emergency response teams and organizations are working on to continually improve our communities.
While most cities host the event on the first Tuesday of August, some cities host the event on the first Tuesday in October. Be sure to check when National Night Out is happening in your city!
