It has been just about a month since the wildfire took the town of Paradise, taking parts of surrounding towns in Northern California as well. The news coverage has died down, but the people impacted by the events are still recovering from this tragedy. Many of our clients and employees have close family and friends that have been affected by the wildfires.
Just a year ago Kylee, Jenny’s niece, and her dad moved from Prescott, AZ to the town of Paradise, CA for a fresh start. Steven, Kylee’s dad, had just started up his massage therapy business and Kylee was settling in at her school, making friends, and playing volleyball for her school’s junior varsity team. When the wildfire struck the town of Paradise, they had no time to prepare for the evacuation, so they had to leave all their belongings. Fortunately, they were able to get out safely, along with their critters, but everything else was lost to the fire.
Family and friends of Kylee and Steven have pulled together to help them to recover and rebuild their lives in the town of Chico, but not everyone is quite as fortunate. The other week, you may recall reading about the Jeremy Kisner’s daughter, Gracie, and the other members of her Girl Scout Troop coming together to raise money for the California wildfire relief fund. Of course, if you are looking to contribute, there are many sources such as the American Red Cross or Relief for the California Wildfires who would appreciate any and all contributions.
