The Surevest Investment Committee Welcomes Marchello Holditch, CFA, CAIA as its Newest Member
Marchello Holditch, CFA, CAIA recently joined the Surevest Investment Committee to provide his insights on global macroeconomic matters. In addition, Marchello has extensive experience in providing asset liability modeling to institutional clients, which will allow him to add significant value to our Personalized Asset Segmentation Strategy (PASS) for clients in the income distribution phase. He holds an Honors Bachelor of Mathematics degree in actuarial science from the University of Waterloo and is a CFA charterholder.
Adding Marchello to the committee could have not come at a better time because the COVID-19 (coronavirus) requires a thorough global macroeconomic view to understand the potential impact to world and U.S. economic growth. We asked him what he and his team’s research show on the potential impact of COVID-19. Marchello responded, “I would say our long-term forecasts have not changed materially; under the assumption the virus impact will be short-term like every other outbreak in history. Long-term economic forecasts are driven by labor, capital and productivity trends.” He continued, “This is undoubtedly a good entry/hold point for a long-term investor.” Marchello and his team will continue to monitor the situation and keep us informed as things develop.
As we have discussed on previous market updates, we expected increased market volatility coming into 2020 and that allowed us to plan ahead of time how to take advantage of the market swings we have seen lately. Last Tuesday, March 3rd the Surevest Investment Committee hosted a conference call where we discussed the current investment environment and the shifts we have made to capitalize on the large market moves. If you missed the call, or would like to listen to it again, you can find the recording here.
